ABOUT LYLA

Lyla was put on this earth to dance, and has been dancing almost as long as she has been alive. It is her passion and she puts her heart and soul into it. Lyla feels privileged to have a career teaching, performing, producing and choreographing. In addition to the 100’s of private events and concerts Lyla has participated in, Lyla has produced and/or choreographed popular musicals such as Footloose, Grease, Pippin, Aladdin Jr, Peter Pan, Lion King Jr, Beauty and the Beast, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Music Man and The World Goes Round. She has also produced at least a dozen original works. Lyla has worked with several local schools, the City of Clearwater, Eight O’Clock Theater, the Gulf Coast Dance Theater, and the St. Petersburg College Theater Department. Lyla has performed with Tapped In Inc. under the direction of Morgan Angellillis Storrison for the last nine years. In 2018 Lyla won Best Dancer in Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay Contest.

Lyla doesn’t just choreorgaph musicals. Her passion is tap dancing. Lyla recently completed ITapOnline Teacher training with International tap dancer and teacher Hillary-Marie. Between her life long tap dance education, musicality training with Hillary Marie and other master teachers, her education in Jazz music and Lindy Hop, Lyla has an extremely well rounded perspective on multiple tap styles and historical choreography.
Her involvement in the dance and theater community doesn't stop at the stage door. Lyla works diligently to make sure the arts are alive. During the stay at home orders, Lyla worked to uplift her community doing regular free online classes in multiple dance forms several times a week. Lyla and her daughter did street performances to entertain people from their homes and volunteered their time to complete the renovations on a dance room at a local school. After the stay at home orders were lifted, Lyla produced an event entitled Artists United to Save the Arts, a performance to benefit Eight O’Clock Theatre and the Gulf Coast Dance Theater. Through Lyla’s leadership the production team raised and donated $2500 to each organization and provided employment to many out of work entertainment industry personnel.

Lyla firmly believes that people can be united through live entertainment. The stage is a place where everyone is welcome. By producing high quality productions and being a high quality performer herself, Lyla helps people live happier lives.
